Who We Are
Prince of Peace Lutheran Church (POP) is a congregation of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS), a conservative, Bible‑focused Lutheran church body. LCMS congregations hold to historic Christian teaching and a traditional, reverent style of worship centered on God’s Word and the Sacraments.
Where Lutheranism Comes From
Lutheranism grew out of the Protestant Reformation that began in 1517, when Martin Luther and others called the Roman Catholic Church back to the Bible and to salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone. In short, Lutherans summarize the faith with three phrases: grace alone, faith alone, Scripture alone.
How LMCS Lutherans Compare with Other Denominations
-
Compared with Baptist churches, we place more emphasis on God actively working through Baptism and the Lord’s Supper (Communion) as means by which He gives forgiveness and strengthens faith, not just symbols of our obedience.
-
Compared with the Church of Christ, we practice infant Baptism and teach that Baptism and Communion are God’s gracious gifts to us, not human works that earn salvation.
-
Compared with Roman Catholics, we share many historic Christian beliefs, but we do not follow the pope and we believe that the Bible alone is the final authority for what the Church teaches and does.
Complimentary coffee is served before and after worship for all to enjoy.
An unstaffed nursery room is available if little ones need a break during the service.
After Worship Service, a family hosts snacks in our Fellowship Hall, followed by Sunday school for every age.
We’re glad you’re here and invite you to join us as we worship, learn, and grow together in the love and grace of Jesus Christ.
